Randall is Philosophy’s multidisciplinary Creative Director, with over 32 years experience partnering with national and global brands, and over 13 years as an agency owner.
Randall Erkelens constantly pushes the creative envelope to catapult every client’s image and message to the top of the marketplace. He has worked with clients ranging from startups to global giants, games developers to energy, and projects ranging from quick brand ideation to full brand transformations. Notable clients include Burger King, Blue Moon Beer, Quiznos, Smashburger, Sub-Zero, Wolf and Cove appliances, Procter & Gamble, Coca Cola, Marrriott, Hyatt, Mastercraft Boats, AT&T, Anadarko, and Noble Energy. From table tents to TV spots, he’s done it all.
From the ground up or complex rebrands, Randall has helped companies reshape their brands from their core values, positioning, taglines, messaging through final look, tone and feel. He creates alignment within organizations when marketing decisions need to be made. By first creating alignment with the key stakeholders, the outcome is always brands that connect to their audiences better – influencing action and sales.
Randall’s experience with Coors and Procter & Gamble has helped clients win at retail – both brick and mortar or online. He’s an expert in consumer behavior and the buying consideration life-cycle. Product branding, marketing and public relations causes consumers to shape how they feel about your brands. Strong point-of-purchase strategy and execution picks-up the second half of the job by prompting purchase at retail.
Over the past decade, Randall has taken his experience as an art director behind the camera to capture the stunning images required by our clients’ marketing and public relations campaigns. From out-of-the-box portraits to new ways of looking at product and food photography, Randall is ready to frame your shots. In the past ten years, he’s added studio photography to his core skill sets in brand strategic creative development, traditional and digital design.
Randall has scored music beds for several clients’ TV spots over the years including original tracks for Coors Light, Apple Computer AT&T and Orvis Fly Fishing.
Before partnering with Philosophy Communication, Randall served as the creative director and art director for Integer Group, one of the region’s largest advertising and promotions agencies. There he worked with clients such as Miller/Coors/Molson, Dr. Pepper/7-Up, Procter & Gamble, and the Denver Art Museum.
The culmination of these experiences has been Randall’s appreciation and understanding of all stages of brand development, strategy, positioning, naming, architecture, ideation, identity design, film/video art direction, product and package design, and integrated creative campaigns.
Randall spends his free time cycling, cooking, DJing a local ’80s night, performing with his synth-pop band Eloquent and building and flying radio controlled airplanes. He volunteers for the Colorado Business Committee for the Arts, advancing Colorado’s creative economy by connecting business and the arts and for various duties for the One Club for Creativity.
Randall graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with degrees in Business, Marketing; and Journalism, Copywriting.
