Aunt Charly’s Lounge
Create awareness and drive trial of a new gay bar in the San Francisco market. This campaign was recognized as one of the first gay marketing efforts that helped pave the way for future category growth. The poster series was recognized in Communication Arts Magazine, at the Cannes Lions festival in France and received a Clio Advertising award for excellence.
Brian Mark (Denver) shot the three images in black & white and used selective focus to bring attention to the visuals. The tagline “Only the drinks are straight” plays off the “gay/straight” connotation while nodding to “bar” language.
